Students get tree-planting lesson

A statewide trek promoting fruit tree planting, environmental awareness and sustainability to elementary school students stopped at Santa Ynez Valley Charter School on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
The “Fruit Tree Tour” from Common Vision, an organization dedicated to creating changes in health, hunger, environmental justice and climate change through education and community action, taught about 160 students from the third- through eighth-grades how to plant peach, apple, fig and other fruit trees in the school’s garden and how to mainain the plantings.
